Demographics
Inc.
This is the home page for American Demographics Magazine, Marketing Tools and the Forecast newsletter. The site features downloadable files on "America's Hottest Markets," subscription access to the three publications plus a bookstore. Of special interest is the on-line search facility that permits recovery of articles and reports on specified topics. This site is an excellent source of demographic profiles and current trends.

The Marketing Tools Directory is a excellent sourcebook that lists companies that provide information and research for marketing practitioners.

U.S. Census This is the "OFFICIAL" U.S. source for social, demographic and economic information. Using the various censuses you can access hundreds of summaries, profiles and reports. Of special interest is the ability to request specific data tables by specified categories and cross categories down to the county census division. Also, is the Map Stats mapping facility permits the "on-the-fly" creation of unique area maps by pointing and clicking using the Tiger mapping routine.

Factbook
An extremely good source for economic and demographic information on foreign countries. Complete descriptive information is given for each country selected along with a general outline map. Detailed reference maps (in either high or low resolution) are available for various regions of the world.

(Caution: The high resolution maps are memory hogs and may require that you close all unused applications before they can be read.)

This site is responsible for reporting the results of the most current annual survey on consumer spending that is conducted by the Bueau of Labor Statistics.

This is a gateway site that is maintained by the National Technical Information Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce. It links to numerous Bureaus, Agencies and Regulatory Commissions of the Federal Government. Of special interest to persons involved in international marketing is the World News Connection. This service offers summaries of the latest significant headlines from various regions of the world.

Nielsen This site provides linkage to both ACNielsen (the global marketing research firm) and to Nielsen Media Research (the media measurement firm). A must visit is ACNielsen's Virtual Store. This page offers summary data on a wide array of products within ten different categories.

Of special interest from Neilsen Media Research is their Web Audience Measurement study. This is a very comprehensive on-going effort to profile INTERNET shoppers.

SRI
International
SRI International is the modern outgrowth of the original Stanford Researh Institute. Today SRI International offers a wide variety of research and consulting services to the goverment and business clients. Of particular interest to marketing researchers is the VALS profiling techique. This site permits you to submit your own responses to the VALS II questionnaire. The site returns your VALS classification to you within a few seconds.

Placement Service
This site is maintained by the AU Placement Office. It gives the current schedule of recruiter visits to the campus. These visits are listed and updated by week. The deadlines for various levels of student sign-ups (pre-select, early and open) are given along with the interview dates. The web links to the homepages of the companies is a unique feature of this on-line listing. When available, e-mail addresses are provided for contact persons at the interviewing companies.

This is a showcase site for AT&T and is probably the most inclusive listing of job openings that is available on the INTERNET. The Job Links page is comprised of 40+ different linkages. These include some of the most popular job listings available such as:

(Caution: These sites are extremely popular and the response time for the initial connection can be very long. Consider surfing these sites in the odd hours.)

This site features the "Top 10 Links" for career opportunities for Toplinks, an INTERNET service provider that is aimed at the university market. Several of the links are redundant with others listed on this resource page. Some seem to be slightly far afield, but a couple appear to be unique and of special interest. The Job Seeker link under the IntelliMatch link offers an extensive listing of jobs and also a nice resume building/posting routine.

This site is maintained by U.S. News magazine. For those interested in additional education this site offers a ranking of graduate schools plus a directory of graduate programs. The page also provide linkages to the current edition of U.S. News' Career Guide plus a career counciling site called the "Answer Zone."
FedWorld
Federal Job Search
This is a basic search engine that allows you to describe the job via adjacent keywords. It searches the job abstracts of open Federal Government jobs for the entire U.S. or by state. It will ordinally list job announcements by relevance for up to a preset limit of hits.

FinAid

These two sites offer access to a vast array of resources for student financial aid. The fastWEB's database references over 180,00 scholarships plus offers links to local and federal loans, work study and grant programs. FinAid is sponsored by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and links to several other sites.

Collectively these sites represent a comprehensive guide to available scholarships and other student financial aid.
