STUDENT ASSISTED RESEARCH PROJECTS

    Directed graduate level survey research project for Diversified Products, Inc. of Opelika, Alabama to determine market segment characteristics for proposed new health/exercise equipment, 1989.
    Directed survey research and assisted in preparing the report on the shopping behavior of consumers in the Enterprise, Alabama trade area. The work was conducted as public service project for the Downtown Merchants Association of Enterprise, Alabama, 1975.
    Directed a research survey to determine retail patronage patterns in Auburn and Opelika. The project was conducted for the Midway Plaza Merchants Association, 1975.
    Directed a research survey to determine the behavior of textile fabric shoppers. This work was conducted as a public service project with funding provided by Russell Mills, Inc., 1974. The student results were presented to the Southwestern Marketing Association in 1976.
UNIVERSITY AND GOVERNMENTAL RESEARCH GRANTS
    Co-investigator for Research Contract for Poole Truck Lines to determine the optimum replacement cycle for over-the-road tractors, Summer 1987. This contract was administered by the Auburn Technical Assistance Center.
    Principal investigator for Research Contract for Deaton, Poole and McClendon Truck Lines. Project investigated and recommended solutions for problems in driver retention for irregular route truckload motor carriers, 1986-1987.
    Sole investigator on two-year project to develop a Decision Support Model for a national fast food franchisor. This grant was administered by the Auburn Technical Assistance Center, 1983-1985.
    Prepared a complete analysis of the proposed Co-Generation Power Bill as co-investigator for the Alabama Senate Commerce, Transportation and Utilities Committee. Presented a written report for the record and provided expert testimony. Funding was provided by the Legislative Technical Assistance Program, 1980.
    Prepared long-range forecast for ethanol fuel demand and presented results to the Commercial Alcohol Fuel Production Seminar held at Auburn University. Program was administered by Engineering Extension, 1980.
    Received a University energy grant-in-aid on "Demarketing" activity as co-investigator with funds being provided by the State of Alabama, 1979.
    Provided statistical and programming assistance to the Auburn Technical Assistance Center on a funded project to determine comparative profiles between retail merchants in non-urban areas, 1978.
    Participated as a co-investigator in an analysis of regional out-shopping behavior. The grant was administered by the Auburn Technical Assistance Center with the funds being provided by the Office of Economic Development, 1977.
    Conducted an Auburn University grant-in-aid as co-investigator to determine franchisor communication patterns. The results of this study were published by the Alabama Academy of Science and by the Southeastern American Institute for Decision Sciences, 1975.
    Conducted research as a co-investigator to determine the feasibility of expanding municipal services for the East Alabama Water, Sewer, and Fire Protection District, 1975.
    Directed a survey of Alabama residents to determine attitudes of hunters and non-hunters. The project was federally funded through a grant held by Dr. Ted Terrel then of the Department of Zoology and Entomology, Auburn University, 1975.
    Provided research design assistance and training for field interviewers for members of the Political Science Department, Auburn University. The project was funded by ALEPA, an agency of the Alabama State Government, 1974.

SELECTED CONSULTING ACTIVITIES

    Conducted viability study for a twelve unit mixed use shopping strip center for the Southeast Alabama Self Help Association in Tuskegee, Alabama, 1999.
    Conducted focus group research and provided strategic plan for revenue generating services for Huntingdon College in Montgomery Alabama, 1997.
    Provided strategic planning consultation for the New Market Development Division of a manufacturer of mechanical metering devices, 1984.
    Co-investigator in an area wide survey of residential homeowners to determine various consumer segments. The project was funded by a Montgomery affiliate of the Good Housekeeping Realtor Service, 1978-1979.
    Conducted primary research and co-authored documents presented to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board evaluating competitive market conditions in seven primary markets within the State of Alabama, 1976-1979.
    Conducted an analysis of multiple family dwellings in Auburn. The project was funded by a regional real estate developer. The analysis procedures developed for this project were later adopted by the local municipal housing authority, 1977.
    Researched and co-authored an analysis of recessionary-recovery pricing policies in the imported polyester fiber market. Analysis was used to determine the fair market value of imported Rumania fibers in an international price dispute in the textile industry, 1977.
    Conducted a statistical analysis of wildlife migration on 2,000 acres of reclaimed strip mined land in Tennessee. Funds for the project were provided by AMAX Coal Company of Gillette, Wyoming, 1976.
    As co-investigator developed a design for a complete planned community. The resulting feasibility reports have been used to attract funding for the 600 acre development, 1975.
